ACESS is a consortium of scientific and engineering societies in the Akron area. It represents over 3,000 engineers, scientists and technicians and is an organized speaking voice for the technical community. Membership is open to all disciplines of science and technology from industry, academia and government.

The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) and Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) are on the firing line of the profession. Our members present the professional engineer's point of view to legislators and administration officials, track legislation, provide testimony and facilitate constructive government action at all three levels--local, state and federal.

The nonprofit American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), founded and based in the United States, is a global organization with nearly 30,000 individual professional members. The mission of the AIAA is to serve the profession, and to benefit the Institute's individual members and member institutions. The Institute addresses the needs of scientists, engineers and allied professionals who conceive, design, develop, test, construct, and operate air and space vehicles, their associated systems and subsystems, as well as the educators who train the professionals, researchers who continuously renew the technology, managers who lead their efforts, and innovators who bring forth new concepts.

Akron Section AIChE is the local chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers for the Akron/Canton/New Philadelphia Area in Northeast Ohio. Known for rubber and polymers, the area also has heavy chemical, materials manufacturing, and service industries.
